Custom Wedding Dresses in New York

A custom wedding dress is the ultimate expression of personal style — a gown designed for you, and only you. At Laura's Boutique & Bridal, our custom bridal design service, anchored by the Dream Couture Bridal collection by Laura Rudovic, offers New York brides the opportunity to wear a gown that exists nowhere else in the world. From initial concept to final fitting, every step is personal, collaborative, and couture.

Custom does not mean starting from scratch (though it can). It can mean modifying an existing Dream Couture gown — changing a neckline, adding sleeves, selecting a different fabric, or altering a silhouette. It can mean combining elements from multiple gowns. Or it can mean a full bespoke design — a gown conceived from a blank sketchpad, built around your body, your vision, and your wedding.

For the bride who wants something truly one-of-a-kind, Laura's Boutique & Bridal in Carmel, NY offers the rare combination of couture design talent, artisanal construction, and a private, luxury atelier experience.

The Custom Bridal Design Process

Our custom design process begins with a private consultation with Laura Rudovic or a senior Dream Couture stylist. We discuss your vision — your wedding venue, your personal style, the silhouettes you're drawn to, the fabrics you love, and the details that matter to you. From there, we develop a design concept, select fabrics and embellishments, and begin the construction process. Every custom gown involves multiple fittings to ensure the final piece fits your body perfectly.

From Concept to Completion

A full bespoke gown takes approximately 6–9 months from concept to completion. The process includes the initial design consultation, fabric sourcing and selection, a muslin toile (prototype) fitting, construction of the gown, and multiple fittings for refinement. For brides with shorter timelines, we offer Rush design services. We'll discuss your timeline during your initial consultation.

Customization Options

Premium silk fabrics, lace, and embellishments for custom wedding dress design

Customization can be as simple or as extensive as you wish. Modification options include: changing a neckline (e.g., converting a strapless gown to a V-neck), adding or removing sleeves, adjusting train length, changing fabric (e.g., swapping silk mikado for silk crepe), adding embellishment (beading, lace, embroidery), and altering silhouette. For a full bespoke gown, we start with a design consultation and build from there.

Fabrics and Embellishments

Our custom gowns use the finest fabrics available: silk mikado, silk crepe, silk organza, chantilly lace, silk tulle, and silk gazar. Embellishment options include hand-applied lace, hand-sewn beadwork, crystal and pearl detailing, and hand-embroidered appliqués. All fabrics are sourced from elite European mills — the same mills that supply Parisian couture houses.

The Dream Couture Bridal Atelier

Dream Couture Bridal custom gown fitting with Laura Rudovic

Dream Couture Bridal by Laura Rudovic is our in-house couture line — and the foundation of our custom design service. Laura's design philosophy centers on architectural silhouettes, sculptural draping, and an obsessive attention to how fabric moves with the body. Her custom gowns have been featured in Vogue Magazine and showcased on the New York Bridal Fashion Week runway.

Alterations and Fittings

Every custom gown includes fittings and alterations as part of the design process. Because the gown is constructed for your body, the number of alterations needed is typically less than with a ready-to-wear gown. Final fittings ensure the gown fits like a second skin and moves beautifully with you on your wedding day.
